Description
Our organic thyme hydrolate for cosmetics is obtained from the species Thymus Vulgaris. It is known as Thyme Organic Hydrolat among foreign buyers. The species belongs to the Lamiaceae family. The Bulgarian plantations are managed according to organic practice, under which artificial fertilizers and synthetic agents are kept out of the cultivated land. The organic method of cultivation results in a composition free of preservatives and colorants, and the liquid remains close to the original plant material of the crop. The raw material comes from the stalk of the plant, with the leaves and flowers, separated from the coarser stem parts, being used. The glandular trichomes occupy both sides of the leaves, and it is precisely there that the secretory cells of the species are located. The extraction is carried out with steam, which is why the scent retains its purity and takes on no foreign tones from external intervention. The tone of the liquid ranges from yellowish to dark brown. The product is a uniform and clear liquid. The aroma has a strong density. The scent combines an herbal side with woody notes in its overall picture. Since the aerial part is used in the extraction, the coloring of the distillate is determined by the leaf and flower matter, not by the stems. The thymol chemotype carries thymol, carvacrol, cymene and terpinene as leading constituents, which is why the herbal line in the scent comes to the fore. In addition, the strength of the scent goes hand in hand with the organic origin of the raw material and the integrity of the harvested aerial mass. The distillate preserves the herbal character of its raw material and conveys it in full, while the organic origin remains recognizable throughout the aromatic profile.
